I have just moved into a new house which came prewired for and alarm system. The wiring is as follows 1 wire for bell box, 1 for remote keypad, 1 for door entry (pir detector) and 1 which is looped to 4 pir detectors in various locations. Looking to install Texacom system and am seeking some advice on which components to use - eg panel, Detectors. Cabling is 6 core.

Thanks in Advance

curious:

at the panel end, were all the cables meet, how many cables are there?

because if they have `looped` all the cables from detector to detector, you have a bit of a problem.

i think what they have done is, the cable that comes thru the ceiling/wall has been cut off and looped back into the wall,

gingerly try to find out by pulling one end then the other, if the cable comes out it is fine.

if it dies not then the only thing you can use is an ID Biscuit system, and these are a pain in the rear.

have a look and post again
