I am diverting my toilet soil pipe, do I need to use any sealing compound at the joints? If so - what is needed?

If plastic push fit

then no, use some silicone grease to help the bits go together more easily.

and if its cast or a lead sleeve with a thimble on the end then you will be in deep ****
