Our bathroom taps work fine but they have white porcelain knobs on them and the kids have managed to break one and crack another! Taps seem to be surprisingly expensive and I wondered whether there was anywhere that sold just the knobs, and whether or not the knobs were a standard fitting?

The ones we have sit on a brass spline with 20 "teeth". The splined shafts have slots in them and a screw in the top (not to hold the tap knobs on), but, I guess, to adjust the diameter of the spline slightly? They are currently about 9.2mm in diameter (about 3/8") across the points of the splines.

you might struggle to get tap heads to fit the inserts tbh - much better to change the inserts and heads at the same time
