Thermostat valves

Ok, some valves are cast directional, some recnt ones seem to be bi-flow.

From my recollection, the TRV should always be in the flow line. What is the effect on both types if this is reversed?

directional ones will "chatter" as they close if fitted wrong way

bi directional don't (shouldn't may be closer)

Fair enough. Just extended the system after an extension and the radiator I moved and carried on from had the TRV on the return, I assumed it was correctly installed on the flow. Will wait and see if theres a problem before the floor gets finished as all the three I fitted were bi directional.
