Replace light fixture on loop system

Hi everyone,

I have just bought a new light fixture for the bathroom and when going to replace the old one have come across a wiring dilemma.

After searching on this forum, the wires going in to the old fixture look like the following diagram:

However, the new fixture only has one wire point each for live, neutral and earth.

So, do I collect the corresponding live, earth and neutral points in to the right points inn the new fixture? If so, what happens to the loop wires as there are no points for the loop wires in the new fixture?

If we follow that particular diagram:
You connect all your live conductors (red cores) in to a separate connection block. This may not be allocated to the fitting, so need to purchase it.

this can be cut down to suit.
Then your switch live, the black cable with the red sleeving on to the live terminal on light fitting.
The black core neutrals to the neutral on light fitting.
and all earths to earth terminal, that should do the trick.

You may find the new fitting will not easily accomodate all the cables.

If you have an accessible loft space above your bathroom, pull the cables up into the loft, and fit a junction box with a new cable to the light.

Get a large 20 amp 4 terminal junction box, and 'copy' the existing wiring of the old light.

This is all assuming your wiring is the usual twin+earth cabling.
