The guy who previously owned our house had painted the garage windows with emulsion! Any ideas how to remove this easily (apart from scraping with a razor blade etc which we tried but is taking forever!)
Many thanks

Ladybird, Hi.

One thing you may wish to consider is to use a "steamer" on the glass, using of course extreme caution.

If you have a steamer the sort that you use to clean work surfaces Etc, it may be worth a try to see if some gentle steaming will assist in removal of the [ by now ] baked on hard Emulsion paint.

A further thought is spread a small amount of washing up liquid onto the glass before applying the steam, once mixed the steam and the detergent may [and I stress the words MAY ] help in first softening the emulsion then easing it off of the glass.

If you don't have a small steamer see if you can " borrow one " from a friend or neighbour.

Be cautious, a light application so as not to shock the window into cracking. The detergent / water vapour mix may help.

The use of a washing up brush, the type that you use in the sink to clean pots could then be used to remove some of the worst areas of the Emulsion? followed by a scraper blade, there are "window scraper blade holders that actually hold a "Stanley Knife Blade" that are actually not too bad at removing thin films off of flat surfaces.

if you do try this I would be interested in the outcome?

Cheers.

Ken.

Hi Ken

We didn't have access to a steamer but managed to buy a proper window scraper which did the trick(with a little elbow grease!)

Cheers
