Rads in loft

I have recently installed two small rads in my loft but the f&e cistern is lower than the rads. I have extended the vent pipe so it is higher than the rads and they are now getting hot but is this ok long term ? i was going to put a check valve on the feed pipe to stop it trying to push water and air back in the cistern. Failing that i can lift the cistern a bit but have been told it can\\\'t be higher than the CWSC. If any one has got any other tips they would be much appreciated

can't see how raising the vent would make any difference if the cistern is lower than the rad's

either raise both or convert it to a pressurised system

don't think you are allowed to fit valves on the cold feed

Is there a way i can just convert the central heating system that is in by adding expansion vessel etc ?

Its normally a big white lump that turns cold water into hot, a bit like a big kettle

Hi Kevplumb

The boiler is a Lotus classique i think, about 8 yrs old approx.

The rads in the loft are working a treat even though they are higher than the f&e cistern, they get really hot like all the rest. Like i wrote earlier, i extended the vent pipe and turned the pump up to #3. The F&E cistern does not seem to get any hot water going back in.
seems like it works fine but do you know if any probs may occur as a result or is there anything that you would be suspect of ?

I was surprised it worked, I thought it would constantly circulate through the f&e.
