In the process of changing a busted oven, never really taken much notice of the circuit up until now.

The new oven is max 16A, which is wired to a junction which is then wired to a wall switch and on to the consumer unit, which has a a series E B20 MCB (assuming 20A). All sounds ok?

Only thing I'm not sure about is the wall swtich which appears to be just a normal single light switch. Should this be a 45A single, no socket, cooker switch as standard?

It should be a 20A switch.

Some of those can look a bit like lightswitches eg they can fit a single gang box.

The rating of the switch will be moulded into the back of the mechanism so (turning the power off first!!!) pull it off the wall and have a look.

Congratulations!

You have won the prize of the first person on this forum in a month with what appears to be a correctly configured kitchen circuit.
