Philips Flat screen TV picture out of alignment

Hi All,
I have a Philips flat screen TV (42PF5521D) and it has an annoying fault. The picture display is too high and wide for the screen. Sub-titles are lost because picture extends beyond the screen frame.
I have the manual but I can't find any reference to adjusting the picture, other than; Widescreen, Superzoom etc. Is there a way to reduce and centralize the picture to fit the screen through the remote.

check the format and resolution settings on the source devices.

Sky - picture format 4:3/16:9... (HD resolution to Auto)

DVD players - picture format 4:3 / 16:9 - (scaling dvd player resoluion as appropriate; 480/576/720/1080i/1080p)

blu-ray (player & bd disc) should be automatically formatted to 16:9. dvd disc on bd player may need to be checked
