I have a baxi bermuda 675 gas fire and back boiler. On servicing the boiler and cleaing air intake filters I have seen a sheeting on the side that is like powder, as there is a sheet on each side where there is intense heat it would appear to be a heat insulator. My concern is that it may be asbestos does anyone know? If it is then when hot are asbestos particles likely to come out into the room when the backboiler is on? :?:
Thanks
Ray

Eek, it's an appliance type I'd advise you NOT to service yourself.
Yes it could be asbestos, lots of BBUs were, though I haven't looked it up. Sure it could get into the room, why not.

Asbestos is perfectly safe if - a)it is undamaged, - b) it is left undisturbed

Why have you removed the fire front to clean the lint arrestor??

Gas fired BBU's are not for DIY ers to play with

Consult a Registered Gas Installer ;)
