apologies for the garbled title, i couldnt figure out a easy way of explaining. i have just had a porch built and where the old exterior door was i now want to fit a standard door lining kit. the trouble is that the kit is a standard size to fit a 30" door and there will be a lot of space around the door frame. what is the standard way of filling in the gap. thanks in advance for your help. andy

Screw a 5"x2" depending on the width of the door frame or a couple of 2"x2" on edge of frame on both side of the outside of the door lining and that will give you roughly 3' width on a 30" door lining, then a wider architrave or skirting board round the door frame!
