Hi all - Just a quickie

In a bathroom, is it OK to put the earth clamps under the floor boards on the pipes, bath, etc or do they have to be visible?

They have to be "accessible" for inspection.

There is no official definition of "accessible".

Under a floor with a removable section installed to allow inspection is OK.

Under floorboards which can be lifted is generally regarded as OK.

Under glued laminate, or tiles is not OK.

The requirement for accessibility is often ignored.

You could solder the bonding to the pipes under the floor boards. However you wouldnt have much success unless the pipes were empty.

Hmmmmm, so underneath my nice new expensive limestone tiled floor wouldn't be OK then?
How do all these swanky minimalist bathrooms get done then? I guess by ignoring the regs

If you are still at the plumbing stage you could use these: http://www.earthcrimp.co.uk/earth_crimp_connector_range.html , as soldered or compression joints don't need to be accessible.

Possibly. Or maybe they are plumbed with plastic pipes, and therefore don't need supplementary bonding...

Perhaps a suspended ceiling beneath the bathroom giving panelled access to the whole under floor .. Unlikely tho.

Not made a start yet, so thanks for the suggestion B-A-S. It looks like a way round it

Suspended celing not an option!

If you've not started yet use plastic pipes and forget all about bonding....
