washer wont wash

my hoover wdm120 wont wash. As soon as its starts a program, it fills as normal then immediately spins. The programmer moves around and i can hear it buzzing, but the washer doesnt wash, the drum doesnt turn at all. Any ideas? thanks helen

You could check the tacho magnet. This is a small magnet on the back end of the motor spindle that sometimes breaks or comes loose.

i would have thought brushes or drive belt, i found (with hp m/c) if tacho magnet broken, m/c spins on any prog, including wash (when it should gently agitate)
