When the last lot of snow melted, the water ran down into the boiler vent on the outside garage wall and flooded the boiler (10 yr old Potterton in the garage). The marvellous rescuing plumber has managed to realign the fall of the vent pipe a bit to hopefully reduce the possibility of a reoccurred BUT what I'd like to do is to get a cover or hood arrangement I can screw to the brickwork above the vent so any snow melt water can't flow into the vent pipe.

Does anyone make them or do I need to DIY it?

if your plumber has done the job correctly. then there should'nt be a future problem. as water can't run uphill.

Well, he was working on an 10 year old existing installation ie no room for manoeuvre! The boiler is fixed to where it's fixed; the vent pipe takes the line through the brickwork originally knocked so I doubt he could overcome the 'fall' problem that easily- or could he?
