Help! Stair tiles

We are building a house at the moment. we have 20x20 floor tiles in black and while in the hallway and want to tile the stairs going down to the basement same way. we have been told that this would be very dangerous for our kids and that they could miss a step. Is this true or are they being difficult. Any suggestions?

Not sure where you can get them,I have seen you can get a bullnose tiles thread approx 2" wide with difference colour to highlight the staircase threads more viewable.
