You asked a question , and so far all you have read is a load of people falling out
Take some good advice , get a properly installed system , most systems work quite well .If your neighbours or freinds have systems they are happy with and have not give faults and false alarms Find out who fitted it and try your luck with that installer .
The main reason for having an alarm is to frighten the pants of the intruder so they will leave your property and go somwhere else to ply his trade
If you are still sensitive to the feelings of your neighbours regarding noise
have a short outside bell time BUT have a good loud sounder INSIDE the property
Most burglars will usually give a property with a bell box ,with good company name inscribed on it and a flashing LED a miss in the first place.
