Hi I have a 1.8 P Reg escort with a zetec engine. The cooling fan is not working, I have bridged the wires going to the sender on top of the thermostat houseing with the ignition on and checked the 30amp fuse. I got a reading of 4.5 volts down to earth from a wire going to the sender, Any ideas please

The 4.5 Volts will be the reference voltage from the ECU, have you checked the resistance of the temp sender? Check it when enigne is cold, the check it again when the engine is warm. The values should be different.

I cant see how that would work? according to the haynes manual if you bridge the two wires the fan should run continuously

Are you sure the fan switch is mounted in the thermostat housing?

I thought the two senders were temp gauge & ECT.

I'd of thought the fan switch would be on or closer to the rad?

Been a while since I owned an Escort Zetec tho.
