Trickle vents - is one enough?

I've had a window company in to replace my original 55-year old windows. They didn't recommend trickle vents in any of the windows purely on aesthetic grounds. I insisted on at least one window with trickle vents (the large window on the side of the house).

Is this likely to be enough for 'secondary ventilation'?

The original windows that are being replaced had no trickle vents.

You need to create a flow of air so you'll need vents in other windows in other rooms in theory. Whether that one vent in that one window is enough for the floor area of the room it is in is your call although there is a formula for working it out, just don't have it to hand

at least one per room

not one per house.

But I bet they had big draughty gaps. And more ventilation through the 55 year old floorboards and fireplaces.
