I have a Myson Apollo fanfare 30/50s boiler that fires up but then when it cuts out will not fire up again until it cools down. I have changed the air pressure switch and all three theromosats. It seems as if there is a valve not opening to let the gas back to the burner when its ready to refire up?

if their not power runing round your boiler the wireing harness may have gone and these are obselte

First thing you should have checked is when its not firing and getting cool is there 240 at gas valve solenoid if so then its the solenoid

if not you then check to see if power to the switched live coming into boiler if there is you then know fault is within the boiler.

If there isnt power the fault is outside the boiler

There is power to the boiler or it wouldn't work correctly when cold, I think it must be a switch or solenoid, ?But where is the solenoid to check or replace?
THANKS TO ALL FOR THE HELP

How do you know there is power to the boiler it maybe a faulty motorised valve motor overheating so the motor comes away from the microswitch and cuts switched power to the boiler then when it cools down the valve can make again giving power back to the boiler.
So basic checks first

Thanks namsag I will go at it again tomorrow. I do thank you for your input.

What you should do, is get a RGI out to verify that nothing you have done has lead to an unsafe situation.

I have done this and all that is happening is new parts are fitted and the boiler is just the same. I need to know what's wrong or could be and look at my options.

Common problem. What you need with a fault of which the cause is not obvious, is a breakdown specialist, not a parts-changer.
Did you personally verify that the guy who worked on your boiler was himself registered?

You should not have to pay for parts which are not needed to repair the system.

Nor in my view should you have to pay for the diagnosis either as that has not correctly identified the problem.

Some of my industry colleagues dont agree with that as they argue that they have spent their time and they should be paid ( even if they have not managed to find the fault ).

I would reply that they should not be taking on work that they cannot do. I would never charge if I was not able to find a fault.

Thanks for the reply Tony, but this is where it is hard for someone like myself that can look at logical problems and then be held to ransom. because they are CORGI registered. The answers I have had only confirms that what I thought was somewhere near right from the start. From this I think I am going to renew the boiler this is going to be another job of cost and trust.

Hi namsag I have checked the solenoid and I only get live when the boiler lights up the gas fitter that is doing the job says it could be the solenoid or the gas valve and to get one but this is more expense. Any help would be appreciated. OR a good heating engineer?? Any help I live in East Sussex.
