i have a stilh ms 180 chainsaw it starts and runs well , after about 10 mins it seems to have no power ,it revs ok but as soon as i try to cut with it the engine stutters and sometimes cuts out , she fires back up ok and maybe ok for a while then does it again , i used her this morning and she was ok then i put her down and had a bite to eat ,then started her and she was ok for about 10 mins and she started to play up again ,
she is only about 3months old , i have changed the plug and put fresh fuel in but she still does it . i have had stilh saws for many years but never had this problem .anybody have any ideas

Possibly split diaphragm in the carb or a split fuel pipe. A few quid and easily DIYable, but unusual in so new a saw. Could be a fuel pipe not pushed home on the stud properly, crap fuel, dodgy mixture (check colour of plug - should be a light biscuit colour, but with air getting in this can show artificially lean, ie white)

If the saw has had a lot of work, check the tank breather (conical rubber thing) is clean. A good blast of compressed air does it.
Next, hoy another new plug in.

Weak mixture,? too little oil and will start to seize up after a short running spell.

MS180 only three months old? You've been sold an old saw, the MS180 was replaced by the MS181 a good two or three years ago, that thing's probably been sitting in the back of a shed for a while. Was it on special offer by any chance?

i have now cleaned the petrol tank and breather , blew out with air all the dust and debris that seems to accumalate and she seems to be running fine ( i had her running most of the day without a problem ) so looks like that may have fixed it . she was brand new in a box which i had to assemble and i paid £169 for her , no special offer and still for sale in a few of my local outlets ,
I only use her for small logs or for cutting of med branches, i have a big ms460 for the day to day stuff
