removing ceramic wall tiles in bathroom

We are due to move very soon and the ceramic tiles in the bathroom are all white which looks to clinical. Rather than remove them all which I know is difficult, we thought of tiling over the top of the existing ones however we wondered if this would make them stand out from the wall too much. They also extend into the shower cubicle. What would be the best thing to do?[/b]

If you are due to move, why are you thinking of changing the tiles. OR Are you talking about your new property?

Tiling over existing tiles can be succesful in the following circumstances:

1) The existing tiles are completely soundly attached and reasonably flat

2) The new tiles leave enough room for bath and shower edges etc to be sealed properly i.e they dont actually overlap into the bath/shower tray enclosure

3) You carefully prepare the tiles using a variety of methods - scratching,special priming etc...
