I have bought a backup battery for my alarm system as I think the old one is dead (it is about 10 years old). I bought a Yuasa but I do not think it is rechargeable. It is the same voltage and size. It looks identical but does not have rechargeable written on it.

Simple question... can I use it or do I need to get a rechargeable?

Thanks

Mike

What are the numbers / writing shown on the side of the battery?

Should be something like NP7-12 12V 7Ah

valve regulated
lead-acid type
rechargeable type

The one I bought has NP2.8-12S 12V,2.8Ah

The one I am replacing is NP2.8-12 12V,2.8Ah

The only difference is the one I bought does not have an 'S' in the text and it does not have the word rechargeable on it.

Thanks

Mike

changing the battery may not be the final fix !!!!! why post stupid comments !!!!!

Well you took a wild stab in the dark at the panel.

I think its a veritas, so it wont matter.

Indeed.
However, as to the others reply. The changing of the battery is probably the "final fix" required.

and how many times have i been to a panel and the customer says ive had a new battery... you may have. but did the last person check the battery fuse? ....maybe not !!!!!!!!!!
