I know you can have a motorised dish, but what one, how much and form where AND whats else would be needed?

and what DO you get channel wise

It's too big a topic to summarise in a paragraph. You need to have a read of some FAQs on the satellite forums. Google is your friend
 
English language broadcasts come mostly from the Astra-2 satellites plus Eurobird (all located at the same point in space as far as your dish is concerned). This is the satellite that provides Sky and everything else for the UK. It the one you use for Sky, for Freesat and for FTA programmes in English. You can, for example, swap your Sky+ Digibox for a Freesat PVR and carry on watching and recording!

A motorised dish will make other satellite clusters available, with the majority of programmes in languages other than English.
