Hi, uPVC door lock is sticking. When locking the door it locks ok and you can hear the mechanism lock but then when carrying on turning the key to get it out of the door it gets stuck and is very difficult to turn. Then when trying to unlock the door it gets stuck to the point where the key is almost breaking before it turns to unlock. Have tried some WD40 and when the door is open and the key inserted it locks just fine and there is no problem with sticking. Any ideas?

Try lifting the handle up slowly and forcefully as high as it will go, when you're applying pressure to the handle as high as it will go does the key turn more easily? If it does try adjusting the middle hinge so that the latch mechanism moves farther away from the latchplate on the frame. often the latch is too close to the latchplate and is "bottoming out" before the handle goes fully up.
Thanks for your help and suggestions. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to help. The lock will lock, and sounds like it is locking fine, it is stiff when you then have to turn your key further round to pull it out. Then this happens in reverse when trying to unlock the door and the key feels stuck at first and has to be forced to turn before it actually unlocks. A mystery........

Check the allignment of the bolts to the strikes with the door oen but with the lock locked.

Try it from the outside with the boltwork near the strikes so we can see the allignment.
A quick thought, undo the cylinder retaining screw a bit and move the cylinder back and forth a bit then retighten.
