I have just had a new conservatory built and had a radiator put in it by extending the central heating system. Since it was fitted it has never heated properly - always hot at top and cold at bottom.

It has a thermostatic rad valve on feed side and a normal gate valve on the other.

Plumber has checked it and says that it is OK but this can't be right.

Any suggestions as I now feel that I am being fobbed off?

Take the thermostatic head off and try it, it's almost impossible to test heating in this weather.

Lack of flow through radiator caused by one of following:-

System needs balancing

Trv or lockshield valve stuck in nearly closed position or not opening properly cos its already hot enough in the room

Blockage or Black gunge in radiator or pipes leading to it

or finally and least likely:- perhaps you are not giving it enough time to heat up
