cooker hood wiring

there is a strip light adjacent to where I'm putting the cooker hood. It is on the 5 amp lighting circuit. Can I wire up the cooker hood from the feed after I have removed the strip light?

It would be better on a fused spur from the ring main or from the cooker circuit. From wattage point of view its no worse than an extractor fan, which are often fed from the lights, (still with their own switch fuse) but it is not what people expect to find when servicing it to change filters or what have you.
