Recently had living room rewired and have three positions now for wall lights; either side of chimney breast and adjacent to it. The flex coming from the wall in all postions is circa. 12inches in length. Is there a minimum length at which this should be left at as most halogen wall lights are only made for studded walls which would mean I would have to cut flex back to about 2" in length. Can anyone help?? |

No minimum length, just common sense and the ability to reterminate.
Best to sink a back box and use that to store the excess cable. Use screw threads provided to mount your wall lights. __________________ "Shock me again and I'm gonna turn you off"

Forgot to mention that the walls have been plastered and they are not studded. If I cut the flex back it would have to be approx. 2-3 inches in length as the part of the halogen that fits flush with the wall is small, circa 3.5 inches dia. and maybe 1 inch deep. Would this be still O.k.? |

As I said there is no minimum length, just consider what will happen when Mrs Supersuv wants different lights fitted and the cable wont reach. Then you'll have to chisel out and replace the cable. Whereas at the moment you presumably havent decorated. so you can sink a box.
Best to do the job right first time then you can sit back with a smug look on your mush. __________________ "Shock me again and I'm gonna turn you off"
