I've looked up info for troubleshooting our problem (our 3-yr old Whirlpool washing machine won't spin) but I am wondering if the solutions are something that we should attempt ourselves or call someone out for.

Is it difficult to repair the washer ourselves? We are not the best at fix-it jobs, but we usually rise to the occassion if it's not too technical.

Thanks for your input!

If it fills up with water and agitates. but won't drain the water or spin I would check the lid switch

i wouldn't

since they usualy stop when the lid is opened, that implies lid switch is ok (i actually think its worn clutch shoes, but it is an American m/c so i am not 100% sure)

Thanks for the replies. The lid switch appears to be functioning fine.

We've called out a service tech. It will be a few days, though.
