Now then !
This must be a standard question with a standard reply?
Turn on the programmer for just hot water...the central heating always comes on.
Ifs it the programmer, how do you test?
Is it the motorised valve ,how do you test?
Best wishes

when the system is cold you turn on the hot water and feel if the central heating pipe from the 3 way valve warms up.....if it does your valves passing. Depending on the make / model of valve you may be able to repair or have to replace.

The 3-way valve is a Honeywell Y plan and when the heating is programmed all three pipes are hot.
Can this type of valve be serviced,if so,how is this done.
Best wishes

if all three pipes get hot when only hot water is being called for (measure a good 12" from valve) then you will need to replace the ball and plate which requires either a drain down or a system bung.

Hot water on and central heating comes on and on occasions the whole shebang stays on (hot water and central heating) even if the timer says everything should be off. Can the valves not working cause the bolier to keep firing?

Any help appreciated...

Thanks

Ken

Yes the valve is obviously stuck in the open position which is making the micro switch and sending power to boiler to bring it on
