Hi All

I have these Doors :

And this varnish:

The doors instruction state that Wickes Water Based Varnish must be used to seal the door completely, and oils and waxes should not be used. I interpret this as meaning they don;t want we to use danish oil etc.

I can;t see a problem in using the oil based varnish i have, but can someone advise me otherwise ?

I don;t want a disaster on my hands!

Thanks
Andy

I presume you are using it as an interior door in which case I can't see a problem using the varnish you plan to use other than it is much better and more expensive than you need to use.
If there was a problem however Wickes could refuse to replace it under guarentee

Thank you ! I'm planning on thinning the first coat 50/50. Then 2 more coats of un thinned. Does that sound right ? (ps.. I have never varnished anything in my life, but done plenty of glossing etc.)

Thanks

Andy
