Light switch in the bathroom

Hello,

I have just bought a flat and it has a light switch in the bathroom. Is this still legal? Maybe there are certain areas or distance from water it can be?

Any help appreciated.

they are allowed, providing there within certain zones. altho i wouldnt put a normal switch in a bathroom

They are allowed in zone 3 or outside zones as long as hose jets are not used for cleaning unless they are IPX5. See http://www.niceic.org.uk/downloads/NL139supp.pdf for zones.

You're looking at a minimum of 0.6m from the outside edge of the shower cubicle/tray/bath tub to get into zone 3.
