Hi,
I've recently moved to a house which has Potterton Profile 40e boiler.
* Could you help me find the age of the boiler?
* When the boiler running, the boiler is very noisy, What could be wrong?
* When the hot water is running, it makes lot of banging noise over the storage tank pipes. Could someone help me understand what's the problem.
Thankx in advance.

1. Year of manufacture is often but not always on the data plate.

You havent given me much to go on with the other two questions but heres my best guesses

2. Could be the fan on its way out? Noisy pump? Kettling?
3. Sounds like water hammer on the rising main leading to your storage tank.
Have a look at this Might be worth renewing the ballvalve in your tank

Remove the plastic tray at the bottom of the appliance look at the serial number located on the right hand side behind the thermostat dial the first number is the year ,the second two numbers are the week of of manufacture.

Hi,
Looked at the number to the rear of the thermostat. Mine reads
HBV 004619. Grateful if anybody can advise me of its age from these numbers.
Many thanks.

I know it proberly won't help you but they were made between 1988 and 2001.
My dad used to work at the factory where they were made.
