My dishwasher is working fine but the cupboard that it is next to has started to smell awful. The outlet pipe runs through the cupboard into a trap and into the soil stack outside, has this got anything to do with it and if so what do you recomend

Clean out your pipes. making sure there is no "gunk" remaining or it will soon smell again. You will have to make sure that the water trap is full and not leaking as this will let foul smells in from the drains. I come across this quite often, more with washing machines but the same rues apply. Clean it and do it regularly.
