Hello all:

Recently, I had central heating installed. Most (not all) of the flow and return pipes are of plastic. When the time comes round for repainting the skirting boards, where the plastic pipes are, will it be safe to use paint stripper, or would this damage or discolour the pipes?
With thanks in advance for a definite answer, from someone that knows,
A.W.

Hard to say for certain but I'd definitely be dipping an offcut of pipe into the stripper before using it anywhere near the installed pipework

The best thing to do would be to drop the manufacturers an email asking that very question, Hepworth, Polypipe, John Guest etc.

My own thoughts would be a big NO, anything that can react with the PB or PEX pipe should be avoided, it can seriously damage the chemical make up of the pipe, just as using a non approved lube can.

Also if you have to use expanding foam around PB or PEX pipes they should be sleeved to prevent it coming into direct contact
