Cooker regulator wiring

I have a fairly old cooker which is still ok except I need to replace one of the Regulator Switches that controls one of the electric rings. The part is not available.

Question: Can I convert a modern "wired to positive" Regulator Switch so it is suitable for a "wired to negative" cooker. It seems wasteful to junk the cooker for one switch . . .

Positive, Negative......thats DC.

Have you sourced a new part you are trying to fit, or are you looking??

That was my local parts supplier's terminology!! I assume he means whether the live or the neutral is switched? or the load is connected to live or neutral?

I'm actually looking for a Sunvic TYJ01A & a Diamond H 27ER1 replacement for which he wants to charge me £50 each.

He's telling me I can't fit something like a 31ER1 or a 37ER3 (for about £12 each) because of the "the way its connected"??

Any comments?
