I replaced a one way light switch with a single pole dimmer switch and it works but it heats up when the light is on. Any solutions?

What is the load that this dimmer controls, I had this preoblem in the past, noise and heating. putting a much higher level dimmer, I mean instaed of 250W, I put 400W, this solved my problem and I am sure it will do yours as well.

Of course if the load (the total watts) of the lights is, lets say 400W, I would go for 500 if it exists or even higher if 500 does not exist.

Keep it in a bucket of water?

I'm sorry - I'm starting to wonder if I'm in an appropriate frame of mind this evening.

And I haven't even been drinking.

Maybe that's the problem.....
