Hi I recently had three double sockets added by an electrician. When painting I unscrewed the last one and found it was not earthed.

The other two have two sets of wires coming into them and have two earth connections.

This final one only has one set of wires coming into it (I guess it is connected via a spur). Therefore it has one earth cable, although that is not connected atall.

I have two questions:

1. Should the one earth cable be connected to the double socket.

2. If so does it mean only one of the two sockets within the double is earthed and is this OK.

Thanks
DEAN

if there are two earth terminals they will be connected together in the socket so connecting to just one of them is fine.

what i'd be wondering about now though is what other faults this "electrician" left with your wiring.
