My new ceiling fitting only has L, N and E. I have 3 reds, 3 blacks (1 which is the live switch) and 3 earths. Do the reds or the live switch go in L? And where does the other go?

No it doesn't. It tells me to keep the live switch separate from the other blacks. But where do I put it when there's only 1 L terminal?

switch live to L on your fitting. Or the brown wire.

You need to connect all the reds together but keep them separate from anything else. Another connecter block will be required if your new fitting hasn't got a spare.

Oh, yes it does

And the fact that you can't understand this:

means that you shouldn't be attempting the job - sorry.

Thankyou Har_vey and ban-all-sheds, that is exactly what I needed to know :D I did do a search, but certainly didn't find that information!
