How will rain effect cement (ridge tile)?

Hi all

I had a single broken tile replaced by a roofer yesterday. It was right at the apex, so he had to remove the ridge tile to fit it. The ridge tile then had to be refitted with new cement.

A little while after he left (not sure, but at least a couple of hours.... maybe more....) it started raining. By the looks of things it has rained on and off all night.

Does anyone think this will cause problems? Should I get him back to take a look?

If the rain came early enough to cause problems (less than 3 or 4 hours) then you would see the mortar washing down the roof. If that has not happened it will be OK.

Cheers for the reply. There's definitely no signs of that. But with all the rain (and now frost) that we've had, would be good for peace of mind's sake to know that all is looking good.

Rain will help enhance the strength of the mortar provided that the mortar was firm enough to resist being washed away.

Frost however could be the killer.

As long as the cement within the body of the mortar joint has had enough setting time, then you should be ok.
