In our new house the supply cable earth is already attached to the mounting box earth terminal. Is it perfectly OK to attach the earth on a metal dimmer switch to the same mounting box terminal i.e. I'd have 2 wires connected there? Is there any preference for the dimmer's earth to mounting box earth terminal, being sleeved cable rather than flex? |

for the earth link between backbox and faceplate sleeved earth from T&E is acceptable but it can be a little unwieldly.
a bit of earth from flex of appropriate size (e.g. 1mm or more for lighting stuff) would be fine so would a peice of single core earth wire. |

I always keep odd lengths and offcuts of flex for just this purpose. __________________ I mustn't warn people that the "experts" on the plumbing forum can't be trusted to tell the truth. |
