KitchenAid wont fill

I have a twenty year old Kitchenaid, that suddenly is not filling with water. The supply line is copper and appears to be open via valve. Do you know if there is only a valve for fill, or is there a pump involved? The drain pump is working. I can get the machine to wash by stopping it between cycles and pouring water in.

In the past, when it has needed to be repaired, the service guy says its one of the best ever made....but it's expensive to get that praise for my old workhorse, and certainly he has an interest in me keeping my aging machinery.
