dimmer and dummer

i have bought a dimmer switch and noticed that the terminals on the back are marked
with a wavy line and a line through on the left and L2 on the right.the instructions are of no help.any ideas how to or if i can wire it up.thanks

providing its a 1 way switch, connect com from old switch to wavy line, other wire form old switch to L2 on dimmer

Is it from Homebase, with two buttons to dim up and down? If so do a search on the home page for 'dimmer' with author 1974stephen.

Look at those posts and it will give you further info.
