While replacing a fused incandescent bulb, I accidentally made a short, and the main switch automatically switched off. After re-connecting the main, the dimmer for that bulb doesn't work anymore, only turns on-off the light but no dimming.
I opened the faceplate (2 gang) and found two black MK 1 way switch boxes inside, min 40w max 200w. Could this switch be repaired (e.g. change a fuse inside) or replaced (only the switch), because I've been looking on the web and only could find the complete faceplate with knob, it seems a complete waste to buy a new 2 gang unit to replace only a half-broken one.
Thanks! |

Unless its a grid plate, you are limited to replacing the faceplate.
And it'll be the triac in the dimmer thats gone, dimmers don't usually have fuses and if it did, the light would be off |
