I was asked today why OEM was stamped on the lamp box supplied within a light fitting.
Now i think its to do with them being made not to be sold seperately.
Anyone explain better for me please
Thanks :)

I read that earlier and got
I first thought it meant it was a genuine part, but then it seems to state they have brought them and stuck there own name on it

It usually means they'll fail after two weeks and you'd be better off fitting a decent lamp or better still an led lamp.

I guess it depends on what you mean by 'genuine'. AIUI, it means roughly what it says - that the part has been manufactured by the company who 'originally' manufactured the part (for inclusion in <whatever>), even though it may be sold unbranded or bearing the branding of someone else. It relates essentially to 'replacement parts' and is meant to indicate that, regardless of any branding (or the absence of it) the part was manufactured by the company who made the part included in the original <whatever>, and therefore hopefully will be identical to what was put in the original.

Kind Regards, John
