Wiring Wall Lights???
Reply with quote Thanks

I just bought a wall light for my house and there are wires sticking out of the wall. I thought it would be pretty straightforward, and with the light came a blue wire, a green/yellow wire, and a brown wire. Sticking out the of the wall there is a black wire, a red wire and a wire without anything covering it...I was just wondering which ones go with what...because all the directions I have read don\\\'t include anything about a red wire and one without any covering...thank you!

in that case, they shouldnt say anything about a black wire either.

The one with no cover is an earth. cover it with green/yellow sleeving.

Blue to black. (neutral)

brown to red. (live)

(if youre interested, red and black are old wiring colours (until last year) and blue and brown are new colours (from last year))
