I have been replacing the old extractor fan in the bathroom which had a back box which was simply pushed through a hole in the ceiling.
So I have put in a couple of braces between the rafters and fixed a piece of plasterboard in the space and cut out the correct sized hole for the new vent :-

I have a few questions.

1) Given the small area what product should I use to level the area?
Would http://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Gypsum-Based-Plasterboard-Adhesive-25kg/p/220600 be suitable?

2) Other than what I have already done by scraping around the opening back to the original plasterboard is there any other preparation I should do?

3) What is the best way to try and blend in the new area with the existing pattern on the ceiling?

Thanks
Gareth

I use the Wickes PA all the time. Always got a bag around the place. If you need it tougher for a thin coat, then add a little PVA to your water.
