Leaking Stop Cock (part deaux)

Well, I Turned off my mains water stop cock (tap), under the
sink for an hour to do some work...turned it back on again...and guess what...it leaks !!

Well, only from the stem of the tap handle.. just a few "tear drops".

Any suggestions, please ?

Do what a plumber would do and tighten the gland nut a few degrees, usually thirty.

In extreme cases its may be necessary to repack the gland seal.

Or, open the tap all the way until fully open, then turn it back about 90 degrees, then wait for the weep to stop all by itself.
