I have a gravity fed water system but have low hot water pressure - tank is same level as upstairs bathroom - cold water pressure ok as cwt is in loft above hwt. how & where do i fit a pump into the system to improve things. not bothered about waiting for hot water to come through - just want more pressure.

u seem to be confusing things.

the cold water storage cistern in the loft feeds ur hot water cylinder and hence ur hot taps.
ur cold water (if u are saying its fine compared to the hot) is probably mains fed (rather than cold from the cwsc, as some systems are piped up)
if its always been low pressure...ie nothing has just happened to make the pressure lower (ie blockage in the pipework etc) then a single impeller pump might just do the trick. u can site it on the hot pipe after the vent (all in the installation instructions) and do the hole house or just on the pipe that feed to unit u want to boost
