My 8-9 year old Amana Washer (Mod# LWA65AW) is leaking. Took off the front cover and looked inside and it is leaking fron the bottom of the tub, above the transmission in the middle. Anybody know what part I need to replace? Hub and seal kit or agitator drive bell seal or maybe somthing else?
Thanks
Matt

Matt:

Here's a couple of web sites run by guys I know who are both appliance repair technicians.

The first one (ApplianceAid.com) is Jeff Worrall's site, and it does give instructions on how to change the tub seal on an Amana washing machine.

Snoop around in here to see if these machines look like yours:

On the above page, click on the "Center seal replacement repair aid" link. That link will show a picture of the seal and provide the three pages of instructions on how to replace it. If you have trouble reading the text, position your mouse pointer near the bottom right corner of the image and you should be able to expand the image to it's correct size, whereby the text should become much more readable.

The second one is by Dan O'Neill who I've only talked to over the internet, but his web site has won awards from PC Magazine as one of the 101 most useful web sites on the internet:

http://www.appliance411.com/

I'd go into one of the forums and there should be people on there that are fairly familiar with replacing the tub seal on an Amana washing machine.

Nestor,
Thanks for all the information. I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I just came across this web site. Apparantly, Maytag and Amana have merged. If you type in your washer's model number, you can see the exploded views of how your washing machine is assembled. (Which is helpful to have handy when disassembling it.)

Type your model number into the above web site, and you can download the factory diagrams identifying all the parts on it.
