Hi, I have a potterton suprima 40L which will carry on running after the controller (ACL Lifestyle LP241) has switched off. It also used to cut out frequently, but this seems to have been cured by a recent main board change.
The problem is intermittent, sometimes the boiler functions perfectly, but other days when the heating program ends the boiler simply carries on. When in this state it doesn't respond to the room stat and the house just gets hotter and hotter. The only way to stop it is to swich off the main power and then it seems to reset itself.
Could it be the controller causing the problem? any ideas?

Are there any zone valves fitted on the system?
Its possible that one is sticking.

There is a motorised 3 way valve in the system and it has given problems with sticking in the past, could this be the cause?

Take your multimeter into the wiring center and check that the heating on wire from the clock is not still live and then suspect the microswitches in the actuator.....the head isn't removable on the 241 so it means a complete replacement valve.

:D Thanks to everybody that replied, having replaced the mid position valve, all now appears to be well. Incidentally the new 241 has a quick release actuator, which allows the actuator to be replaced by pressing in one button... very neat.

Forced to question the logic of providing a 'quick release' for the actuator. Evidently anticipating frequent replacements!!!
